Family Law Cases Before the Personal Status Court in Jeddah

Family matters in Saudi Arabia are governed by the Personal Status Law and heard by the Personal Status Court. They cover marriage, separation, maintenance, custody, guardianship, trusteeship, and inheritance. We represent clients in Jeddah in these cases, with focused experience in guardianship and trusteeship over a minor, marriage permits for non-Saudi spouses, proving a revocation of divorce, and notarizing whatever results.

Family cases need a lawyer who knows the procedure, protects privacy, and does not inflate expectations. We represent you before the Personal Status Court and explain from the first meeting what the law allows and what it does not.

How We Work

Three Principles in Family Cases

We start with them at the first meeting and hold to them until the file closes.

Confidentiality first: no one sees your file but the lawyer handling it.

Realism second: we do not promise a judgment or give arbitrary timescales; we explain the procedural route and what the court requires in documents and witnesses.

Documentation third: many family matters end in an instrument that needs notarizing — a declaration, a waiver, an agreement — and we have a licensed notary to complete it.

We publish no client names, no case details, and no case numbers in any marketing material.

How the Fee Is Set

The fee is set after reviewing the case file and defining the scope of work. After the first consultation we send you a written proposal setting out the scope, the fees, and the payment terms, and no work starts before the fee agreement is signed. Court and government fees, where they apply, are stated separately with their source.

What Should You Bring?

What to Bring to the First Consultation

The more complete the documents, the faster we can set the right route.

Your ID and the other party’s ID if available, and the marriage contract or deed.

Any earlier judgments or decisions (custody, maintenance, guardianship) and the dates you received them.

For guardianship and trusteeship: the guardian’s death certificate or proof of absence, and details of the minor’s assets.

For a marriage permit: both parties’ IDs, the non-Saudi party’s residence permit, and employer details.

Any correspondence or written evidence relating to the application.

Not every family matter is a claim: many guardianship and evidentiary applications are filed as non-contentious applications rather than adversarial claims, and some matters are resolved by a notarized declaration between the parties. We always start by identifying the least costly and quickest route — an application through Najiz, notarization before our notary, or a claim before the Personal Status Court — and explain the difference before you choose.

How to Start

Three Steps

01 — Get in Touch

With a brief description of the situation, without sensitive detail in the first message.

02 — A Consultation

It sets the route, the documents, and the body involved (the court, the Emirate, Najiz).

03 — Representation

Through to judgment or completed notarization.

FAQ

Common Questions About Family Law Cases

Yes. The claim is filed through the Najiz platform, hearings are scheduled, and they may be held remotely as the court directs. We prepare the claim, follow the hearings, and attend on your behalf under a notarized power of attorney.

Custody concerns the child’s day-to-day care and residence, while guardianship concerns dealing with their legal affairs and property. The Personal Status Law sets out who holds it, in order. They may rest with the same person or with different people, and this is one of the things families most often ask us to explain.

A wife may seek judicial divorce, khul’, or annulment before the court on the grounds and conditions set out in the Personal Status Law, and each route has its own effect on the dower and maintenance. We set out the route that suits your circumstances in the consultation.

No. We do not publish client names, case details, or case numbers on the site or in any marketing material. That is a professional obligation before it is a marketing choice.

Get in Touch in Confidence
